Tongariro Expeditions monitor the weather closely and put out a daily update with a forecast from both Metservice and NIWA. A decision is made whether our Tongariro buses runs or not based on our years of experience. Please trust if we have cancelled due to weather it is for a very good reason. Sometimes the forecast is wrong.
It is always best to be safe than sorry. Even when the forecast is good, prepare for four seasons in one day. Dress in layers!
If the crossing cannot be completed due to unsafe weather, we will offer to transfer your booking to another date or cancel it for a refund.
